An 1843 quilt from Connecticut was finally completed by a group of women in the Falkland Islands in 2013. The fabric is truly intriguing and some of it can be found in examples of famous quilts from that time and place. This quilt lay untouched in a cedar chest in someone’s attic only to be found and aired many years later. Its quite moving to hear such stories but to meet the people and touch the fabric is a real privilege. Below are images of the quilt and the fabric, and yes, we too wondered what the leaves in there third image were.
